Basic forest management of the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve

Since January of this year, the new Forest Management Project of the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve for 2019-2028 entered into force.

Forest management work was carried out from 2016 to 2018. It includes:

  1. Definition of boundaries of forest lands;
  2. Inventory of forest, definition of the types of forest lands, species of rocks and age composition of forests, their condition, as well as quantitative and qualitative characteristics of forest resources;
  3. Identification of forest areas in need of cutting of trees or other forest management measures;
  4. Development of a project for organization and management of forestry, creation of planning and cartographic documentation;
  5. Survey and research of the forest fund;
  6. Formation of a database of information systems.

The economic measures designated during forest management are primarily aimed at preserving forest ecosystems in their natural state, as well as restoration of natural complexes, disturbed by natural processes, for example, natural disasters.
